Home remedies for life's minor ailments are a wonderful way to be able to take care of yourself and your family, and it's not difficult to create the blends, or tinctures, that allow you to do so at all.

Chamomile flowers are a favorite of mine, and a chamomile tincture works wonderfully for aiding against headaches, settling the stomach, as well as a stress reliever. You can take one dose orally (one teaspoon) a day for best results. The instructions for making your own tincture are as follows:

1 cup of dried Chamomile flowers.

2 cups boiling hot water.

2 cups vodka or rum.

1 quart size glass jar with airtight lid.

You'll first place the chamomile flowers into your jar. (Either fresh or dried chamomile flowers are appropriate.)

Next, you'll pour the boiling hot water over the flowers. (Flowers should be submerged in water.)

You may also want to stir the flower/water blend.

Next, fill the rest of the jar with your choice of vodka or rum. I used a citrus vodka.

After doing this, seal your tincture with an airtight lid.

Allow your tincture to "sun itself" in the window daily. After the sun is no longer in the window, shake your tincture (daily) and store in a cool area. Repeat this process for six weeks.

Once you've arrived at the six week period, pour tincture through a strainer. You can store your tincture in a wide mouth amber jar for easy use.
